3/28/2011

OK so my week this week was amazing, we had 4 baptisms, i included the pictures of everyone together they were baptised saturday morning at about 10:00 I baptised all the men and my companion baptised the woman, which doesn´t really matter but it was way cool. the first one i baptised was Eusebio Antolín Aguilar Hernandez, my companion baptised his wife Rosa María, they are the family of gold i talked about, we´re still trying to get their kids to church but it will be easier now that the parents are members. Antolín has worked security his whole life but his wife asked him to quit on the federal level and he is now searching for work. He talks a TON but its good because he helps himself and his family learn by doing it, the first thing he said when we met him was 'i want to be clean of my sins, do you know how i can do that?' haha he was baptised exactly 1 month later, his wife always seemed sad, tired, and just unhealthy, she now seems bright and full of life all the time :) the two boys are cousins, although the younger lives with them and was adopted by his aunt after his mother abandoned him to hop the border. we baptised them about a month and a half after their mom, we are still working with her oldest son and her husband, hopefully they all get baptised. (José louis, 14; Jorlin 8 Mother: María del Carmen) I also included a picture of our front door-stairs, my room, the neighbors (puppies), hopefuly they all work.
Yes we did go back and teach the father (pedro) he´s very catholic but has an open heart and was going to come to church but he got sick and couldn´t make it, his son has a baptismal date however, and his wife is already a member. Money i think i´m good but if you want the best way to do it would be to put it on my card. sorry about clancy i´m sure he´s in a wonderful new home. í´ll find out how to make a horchata :) i´m not sure how but i´ll look :)
Things in méxico are going great although i would not advise you to take a visit atm...  i eat lunch with a family every day we just had exchanges and i´m still with the same companion in the same area.
We went to park Fundidora last monday its where Monterrey started we went and tourned a huge iron refinery it was cool i´ll send mor photos later.
Anyway, let me know about any questions/comments you have.

In response to what is wanted for birthday and Christmas presents he said:  It means i don´t no, but i really like suprises lol but i thought about and decided i knew what i wanted, during my mission i would like you to take all the money that you would have spent on christmas's and birthdays and put it towards something for when i get back; ideas: car fund, laptop, bank fund (to build interest) a snow board, engagement ring, school, etc. i decided thats what i want, probably smartest as well.

Ok so first off what is this i hear about Libia declaring war on people? I only hear rumors down here... also Japan sounds really nasty as well! is the radiation really affecting people in california as well?

Ok this week, i did lots of tracting, and little finding, really exciting, i have met more out right rude people in one week than ever before in my life but thats ok, its one of the things i looked forward to before the mission. lots of people here when they see 2 white guys walking down the street come over and try their english out on us, which is fine as long as we get to try out our religion on them :) haha

We had a couple people on a date to be baptised this wednesday but they didn´t come to church so they have to wait, but we have 4 people scheduled to be baptised on saturday, with any luck we´ll have five, a married couple and two sons from a different family with luck the last son will want to be baptised as well.

Remember the story about the guy that my companion was rude to? well we went to his house again and turns out he´s a stomach doctor and prescribed a medicine for my companion, who fights with mexican food, he wasn´t rude at all and seems to have forgiven my companion which is super cool.

We were teaching a lesson to someone who just lost his mom not too long ago and he is searching for happiness, so we were teachiong and suddenly his brother bursts in with a book, 1001 secrets for happiness, he was blabbing about how great it was and so i asked to see it, and what i saw in the book was good and i told him that, right after that i said 'but what we have to share is better, because it comes from God; take a seat and listen to us.' he sat down on the beed with his brother and actively participated in the rest of the lesson. I felt pretty good i had the guts to say that haha.

Thats the News this week if you would like to hear about anything specific e-mail me and i will answer your questions asap

Hola Familia!
Ok so this week was pretty good, we got 9 new investigators and had 7 come to church yesterday, my companion says its one of his most successful sundays on his mission,  it  was really good. last sunday i don´t know if i told anyone or not but my companion was kind of rude to a man that we contacted who said the church isn´t true, on the street, we were walking away from that and a woman contacted us around the corner and asked us to come teach her son, which made up for it, so we thought, we went to the womans house and taught her son all this week, he´s ready to be baptised already we just have to re-activate his mom. so they came to church and  it was perfect he´s prgrossing nicely along with his brother and sister, who are also old enough to be baptised and they all want to be :) so we went to there house sunday night around 7:00 pm to say hello to the family and to see if her husband wanted to hear the gospel, he´s catholic only home sunday afternoons and the same guy my companion was rude to........ he calls it his piece of humble pie. i sure hope things work out.

Wednesday night is mutual here and we got a ride to the church with a member and 4 investigator boys, it was going great, we had to go to a meeting with the bishop and left them all playing soccer, about 7:50 there was a knock on the door, the youngest boy (12) was standing there, missing a shoe which was stolen by a non-member boy, we couldn´t find it and were late back to our apartment, we looked for it sunday and found it stuck between the wall that souronds the church yard and the builing next to the wall, about a 4 or 5 inch gap, very glad to have found the shoe :)

One of our investigators (Daniela) lost a cousin this week and because of the catholic rosery or whatever wasn´t able to come to attend church with us, also a recent convert in the ward, (Maria del Carmen) had a heart attack this week(she´s 30), it was really hard on the sons who are also investigators of ours and they cou´ldn´t make it either, so the only ones that couldn´t come to church were the ones with extenuating cercumstances. all of our other investigators made it to church well actually the family of gold, there kids didn´t come again, so we pushed back the baptism date 3 weeks and told the parents they needed to help get there kids to church so they could be bapised as a family, we said it nicer than that... Quote of the week: Be a lagit missionary, like jesus wants you to be.... he probably wouldn´t use those words though.

Anyway thats the weekly e-mail, love you all!

This week was fairly long, we got 5 investigators to church this sunday which was tons better than last week! we had 2 investigaors fall though cause they weren´t keeping commitments which is sad but it happens alot i guess. we did lots of contacting this week, one of the elders in another area in our district had chicken pox for 2 weeks and so they lacked new investigators, so the whole zone went to their area on day from 2-6or9 and contacted as many people as possible. It was good they got a bunch of new investigators from it. also we had a lady walk up to us on the street and demand we come teach her and her son, which we didn´t argue with her haha, also there are alot of two things we avoid, catholics and jehovah´s witnesses... they like to verbally attack missionaries from our church which is funny cause we just smile and nod say have a nice day and walk away. Well I do anyway, my companion gets a little more upset about it than i do. also we have that whole family with a baptism date and the parents attended church this week, we just have to get the kids to attend, also, the father doesn´t see why he needs to pray to know if something is true if he already knows its true... like that joeseph smith is a prophet and the boo of mormon is true. we have our entire comp. study planned around how we are going to approach it without making him angry, also when we taught the law of chastity to themi shared a scripture ( i forgot the reference) that he said was like a knife to the heart for him and that he can really see a sense for morality now. We also had an exchange this week, i was in our area with one of the zone leaders, he told me i´m the most un-green greeny he has ever seen which i´m trying to not let go to my head. HA but it was a good week over all, nothing super miraculous or memory sparking this week but i hope to have such a story next week :)
